The Community And Technology Coordinator – Genny Deis will be living at the Brunette (B04) providing training and classes and is there to support the residents in activities and emergencies.  Village of Merici will be paying the HOA fees and utilities for that unit as well as the cost of the 2-bedroom condominium.  

The Community and Technology Support Coordinator provides leadership and coordination which facilitates the forming of a strong, supportive, inclusive relationship between Village of Merici Inc (VOM). and the extended community including the City of Lawrence, IN. This live-in position will be responsible for integrated activities in the community for adults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) living in the Brunette Condominiums.  Genny Deis along with Marissa Pangle will provide learning opportunities using the Independent Pathways curriculum as a guide.

This position will focus on community integration opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be as independent as possible, to develop relationships with others, and to be involved in their local community.

The Community and Technology Support Coordinator will live on-site at Brunette Condominiums as a condition of employment. Rent and utilities will be included in the apartment as part of a compensation package. This position will be a live-in position in the Brunette Condominiums but will not be expected to be on-site 24/7. The Community and Technology Support Coordinator will be expected to be on call when not on site and to coordinate with VOM Management if scheduled away.  

The Community and Technology Support Coordinator will:

  • Provides resources and learning opportunities in areas such as communication, socialization, self-advocacy, and community integration.
  • Provides resources, training, and assistance as needed using standard technology available in the Brunette Condominiums including technology assessments and training with people we support, as needed during the first year.
  • Develop and coordinate learning opportunities within Brunette Condominiums and Lawrence community to encourage community interaction, inclusion, and integration.
  • Provide regular communication for residents regarding activities such as newsletters, activity information, and other means of communication.
  • Communication liaison to both the HOA and Village of Merici, Inc. (VOM).
  • Maintain reports and data on resident-related needs that result in the additional assistance needed. Communicate with service providers or family support as needed.
  • Maintain any and all reports in regard to incidents or emergencies.
  • Becomes knowledgeable about residents and their service plans including service provider, case manager, and family support.
  • Reporting property issues within the common areas to the proper authority

This position reports to the VOM Executive Director and Director of Services and collaborates with the VOM Director of Services, VOM Development Director, and the Brunette Homeowners Association (HOA).
